Arcadia Data Adds BI Tools, Language Queries

Visual analytics vendor Arcadia Data continues to extend big data search capabilities with AI-driven business intelligence tools that also allow for natural language queries, a capability intended to extend the use of BI to a wider audience of enterprise users.

Arcadia Data, San Mateo, Calif., this week announced general availability of the latest version of its enterprise platform that incorporates natural language querying and “search-based BI and granular mapping” of big data.

The analytics startup said it is meeting growing demand for integrating AI into business intelligence tools as data lake architectures emerge as a preferred scaling option. Arcadia Data, which has steadily upgraded its native Hadoop visual analytics platform to include Apache Kafka and cloud implementations, argues that current tools are unable to leverage those big data platforms.

Hence, its latest version adds natural language querying with search-based BI capabilities along with “dynamic mapping” via integration with MapBox GL, the vector mapping tool. Arcadia Data added the GPU-accelerated rendering engine to its visualization platform in December.

The dynamic mapping feature via integration with MapBox GL is said to provide geospatial analysis of hundreds of thousands of geographic boundaries.

Meanwhile, an intuitive interface is aimed at a range of new users along with data scientists and business analysts plumbing data lakes. “Search-based BI and granular mapping… are becoming must-have features for modern BI environments,” said Priyank Patel, Arcadia Data’s co-founder and chief product officer.

Search-based BI and analytics “lets any user ask questions as if they were using an Internet search engine, and they can get answers in a visual format,” the company noted in a blog post this week.
