Aidan Gomez is the co-founder and CEO of Cohere, one of the preeminent developers of large language models for business. Under Gomez’s guidance, Cohere has created LLMs for a variety of use cases, and turned the firm into a leading alternative to OpenAI

Gomez was an intern at Google Brain when he co-authored “Attention is All You Need,” the seminal Google Brain white paper that introduced the groundbreaking Transformer architecture to the world. While at Google Brain, the British-Canadian computer scientist also collaborated with a number of AI luminaries, including Geoffrey Hinton and Jeff Dean.

When he was 20, Gomez co-founded Cohere in 2019 with Nick Frosst and Ivan Zhang, both of whom also attended the University of Toronto. Gomez received a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, and after putting his studies on hold to build Cohere, he received a Doctor of Computer Science from the University of Oxford earlier this year.

Cohere has raised about $935 million and has grown to more than 300 employees. It reportedly is valued at more than $5 billion.
