Simba and DataStax Team Up
VANCOUVER, B.C., Feb. 17 –– Today Simba Technologies Inc., the worldwide leader in Big Data connectivity announced that DataStax, the company that delivers Apache Cassandra to the enterprise, has licensed Simba-developed ODBC connectivity for its market-leading Cassandra 2.x commercial distribution offering for the enterprise. This renewed focus on ODBC 3.8 connectivity for Cassandra 2.x data reflects DataStax’s continued commitment to providing best-in-class connectivity for its enterprise customers. DataStax has licensed and distributed ODBC connectivity from Simba Technologies since 2013.
“DataStax delivers Apache Cassandra as part of a database platform purpose-built for IOT, web, and mobile apps,” notes Tom Newton, VP of Sales at Simba Technologies. “And with the new DataStax ODBC driver, DataStax enterprise users can query their NoSQL Cassandra data directly via SQL.”
The DataStax ODBC driver built by Simba offers DataStax enterprise customers:
- Mac platform access to Cassandra data clusters
- Direct SQL-to-NoSQL query capability via translation to the underlying CQL
- Full compatibility with Cassandra 2.x, including faster performance and improved security
- ODBC 3.8 support, including asynchronous execution capability
“At DataStax, it’s important that our business aligns with the expertise of the innovative vendors and providers we collaborate with,” says Matt Rollender, vice president, infrastructure and ecosystem development at DataStax. “ODBC connectivity from Simba helps enable DataStax Enterprise users to connect database clusters with BI tools of their choice.”
“Perhaps the best part for DataStax enterprise users is that the ODBC driver is included in their DataStax Enterprise license,” adds Simba Technologies’ Newton. “DataStax customers can seamlessly connect to their data with popular BI tools like Tableau, MicroStrategy, Spotfire, Microsoft Excel, or Microsoft PowerQuery at no extra cost.”
