Yugabyte Announces 6th Annual Distributed SQL Summit, Unveils Keynote and Lineup for Nov. Hybrid Event

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 3, 2024 — Yugabyte, the distributed PostgreSQL database company for cloud-native applications, today announced that registration is now open for its sixth annual Distributed SQL Summit (DSS 2024) taking place on Tuesday, November 12, starting at 10:00 am MST.

This hybrid DSS event gives the distributed SQL community, Yugabyte customers, partners, and industry thought leaders a forum to discuss the state of distributed transactional databases, and explore how they can use distributed SQL to eliminate complexity and embrace a modern data ecosystem. The event is particularly relevant for data architects, developers, and database practitioners from the corporate and open-source community.

With the theme “Postgres Without Limits,” this year’s event will showcase the opportunities companies can unlock with database modernization and transformation. DSS will also highlight the value of embracing a cloud-native, PostgreSQL-compatible distributed database when building or modernizing critical applications.

Yugabyte co-founder and co-CEO Karthik Ranganathan will present the opening session, “Harnessing Cloud Native Power with PostgreSQL” where he will share updates on the company’s vision and roadmap for PostgreSQL compatibility, introduced last year, and unveil new features and functions for the latest version of its flagship Postgres-compatible distributed database, YugabyteDB.

Jake Roersma, Senior Vice President of Platform Engineering at Netskope will present the customer keynote session about building critical data infrastructure for modern cloud native cybersecurity. Other featured speakers at DSS 2024 include technology leaders and database practitioners from Rakuten, ComplyAdvantage, and more. These experts will talk about real-world case studies and topics ranging from building resilient electronic health records, to building data and AI platforms and tools for next-generation telcos. The Distributed SQL Summit was envisioned as an industry event for engineers by engineers. Participants can attend engaging technical sessions, watch demonstrations, and roll up their sleeves through interactive workshops designed to explore use cases, technologies, and best practices for distributed databases.

“As Yugabyte continues to deliver on its vision for distributed PostgreSQL, we’re thrilled to bring together the brightest minds in the industry to discuss the future of distributed SQL,” said Karthik Ranganathan, Yugabyte co-founder and co-CEO. “This summit will provide a platform for database professionals, developers, and architects to learn from each other and explore the innovations driving the next wave of cloud-native, scalable, and resilient databases. We look forward to insightful discussions, knowledge sharing, and community building at DSS 2024.”
